Secure documentation
Digital materials — images, footage, testimonies, documents — are collected and registered through encrypted channels that protect both the material and its source.
Shahid is a secure digital platform for documenting and preserving evidence of human rights violations in accordance with international standards — from the moment of capture in the field to its presentation before justice and accountability mechanisms.

We believe rigorous documentation is the first step toward justice. Shahid transforms testimonies and digital materials into evidence preserved to international legal standards, fit for use before courts and accountability mechanisms.
Digital materials — images, footage, testimonies, documents — are collected and registered through encrypted channels that protect both the material and its source.
A complete record for every item: who handled it, when, and what was done — safeguarding the integrity and legal admissibility of the evidence.
Evidence is made available — under strict safeguards — to lawyers, investigative bodies, and national and international justice mechanisms.
Four connected stages form a single, unbroken chain of custody.
Materials are received through secure channels and registered with their metadata: time, place, and context.
INTAKE
A unique cryptographic hash is generated for each item, proving it has not been altered since intake.
SHA-256
Items are stored encrypted, and every access is recorded in an auditable custody log.
CUSTODY LOG
Evidence is released to authorized bodies under clear protocols that protect source confidentiality and file integrity.
RELEASE
At every stage of its work, the platform adheres to the highest internationally recognized legal and technical standards.
Our documentation methodology follows the Berkeley Protocol on Digital Open Source Investigations — the international reference standard for collecting and analyzing digital evidence for justice purposes.
Materials are encrypted in transit and at rest, with access governed by the principle of least privilege and continuous auditing.
Protecting the identity of witnesses and documenters is a founding principle of the platform — with no exceptions and no compromise.
A clear governance structure — general assembly, board of directors, and specialized committees — ensures transparency and internal accountability.
The platform is a bridge between those who document violations and those who pursue accountability for them.
Secure tools for field documenters and civil society organizations to deposit and protect materials.
Evidence documented with a sound chain of custody, ready to be built upon in legal case files.
Structured cooperation with UN and international investigative and accountability bodies under approved protocols.
Restricted access under strict safeguards for research, memory, and historical documentation.
Updates from the platform and from the field.
