Daily Media Monitoring Brief — Sudan Wednesday 7 October 2026 ·

Executive Summary
• Burhan, head of the Port Sudan authority's Sovereignty Council and army chief, said in Amri (Northern State): "we have no negotiations with anyone", vowing to continue operations to "uproot the enemy completely" from Darfur, Kordofan and Blue Nile, and saying war and peace decisions rest with the Security and Defence Council. The remarks came a day after his meeting with Massad Boulos and reports of a US 90-day truce proposal.
• West Kordofan: the Dar Hamar emergency room accuses the RSF of an attack on Abu Ajal village, south-east of El Nahud, that killed more than 10 civilians — an unverified claim with no RSF response.
• El-Mazroub (North Kordofan): Shahid issued a statement (SE-ST-2026-001) on reports of the execution of three young men said to be Somoud supporters and the looting of homes after the army and Joint Force took the town, stressing the information is under verification. No independent confirmation or army response found. (Conflict-of-interest note: SMIMA works for Shahid.)
• West Darfur: Minni Arko Minawi, Darfur regional governor aligned with the Port Sudan authority, cites "important progress" and recovered areas near Bir Sulaiba and Abu Suruj — a party claim.
• Geneva: Sudan's permanent representative (Port Sudan authority) Hassan Hamed criticised the FFM renewal for "equating" the army with "rebels" and omitting complementarity with the national investigation committee.
• Nyala: Fallata–Masalit reconciliation conference with the Transitional Government of Peace authority after violence in Gireida (16 killed); its prime minister Mohammed Hassan al-Ta'ayshi: "the problem is with the state".
• Dutch broadcaster NOS: sanctioned RSF commander Algoney Hamdan Dagalo attended a peace conference in The Hague in late 2024 under an alias; organisers expressed regret.
• Economy: 24 oil companies petitioned Burhan to lift fuel-import restrictions, citing an official rate of 5,500 SDG/USD versus 8,300 on the parallel market.
