“Sudan Media Observatory” is an interactive report that monitors and analyses media coverage of Sudan worldwide. It answers the questions: Who covered Sudan, in which language, from which country, on which issues, and with what narrative and tone? This edition identified 138 unique items published by 89 media outlets and sources across 37 countries between 19 and 25 October 2026, through searches conducted in eleven languages.
The Observatory is a service provided by the Shahid Evidence Platform. Published weekly at the end of each week, every edition covers the preceding seven days and is delivered as a single interactive file that works offline.
The coverage monitored includes international news agencies; global, Arab and African newspapers and broadcasters; United Nations organisations; research centres; and specialised Sudanese platforms. Each item was classified by topic, narrative framing, tone, actors and locations mentioned, and the outlet’s country and language. Items covering the same event were grouped together, and discrepancies in casualty figures across outlets were recorded as published. Each item includes a link to its original source.
