Executive Summary
• The UN Security Council unanimously adopted resolution 2830 (8 Oct): the Darfur sanctions regime is extended two months to 11 December 2026 and the Panel of Experts to 11 January 2027. Washington withdrew its proposal to extend the arms embargo to all of Sudan and drones after Russian and Chinese opposition; Sudan's representative (Port Sudan authority) said a nationwide embargo conflicts with the right to self-defence.
• WHO after a mission to Darfur: "critical" health needs far exceed resources; more than 700,000 displaced in Tawila, only $22 million received of $97.7 million required, and one psychiatrist in North Darfur.
• A media adviser to the civil administration of the Sudan Liberation Movement (Abdel Wahid) says it declared famine in Jebel Marra, Tawila and Ain Siro in September, with about 6 deaths a day and disease outbreaks — a local declaration, unverified and not a UN classification.
• Ed Damazin: Radio Tamazuj confirms four women killed in the drone strikes (7 Oct); the army says it repelled a new RSF–SPLM-N attack in Minza and Bashkarkat — a party claim.
• The Youth for Darfur observatory says it documented 3,708 cases of sexual violence against men and boys since 2023, over 900 of them minors, attributing 73% to the RSF — figures not independently verified.
• Nyala: Fallata and Masalit communities agreed to coexist through 12 resolutions; the prime minister of the Transitional Government of Peace authority announced a follow-up committee.
• Darfur: a sack of millet has doubled to about SDG 600,000 in El Geneina; the Darfur Bar Association calls for a 90-day truce to deliver aid.
